The author's position in lines 35—47 would be most weakened if which one of the following were true?

C vs D

Why is D a better answer choice than C? Also, what level of difficulty is this passage? The questions seemed a little different from typical RC questions.

Hi, I would put this in the more difficult category.

We are trying to weaken the argument that the promotional industry has les films to become overly profit focused, and that only films that studio executives think will be marketable will be made rather than those that tell a good story.

D directly weakens this by telling us that films that tell a good story will be profitable. If this were true then those films that tell a good story will continue to be made.

C only tells us that other parties still have a say. While the author said that execs are increasingly making decisions instead of the other parties, they never told us that the other parties are out of the process entirely. So what if they still have a say? This is a possibility that the author doesn't seem to have a problem with.

I thought the fact that most had a say (C) was denying the premise in the paragraph (execs increasingly making decisions. why is that not the case?

i thought the strength of c hinged upon most. if it had some, i would have chosen d.

I don't think that C is actually denying the premises of the passage. The passage tells us that the change is that decisions are made more frequently by studio execs. That is, that their influence has grown. This is not at all mutually exclusive with the ida that the other parties still have influence. The passage is suggesting that the influence of directors and producers has waned to some extent, not that they have no influence.
