What's the difference between sides of the arrows?

What is the difference if the C is on the right or left of the arrow of the NotX?

Hi, the arrow replaced the word "then" here. That is, instead of "if X then y" the arrow would be

X -> Y.

In this case, one would be saying if not X then C, the other would be saying if C, then not X.
