Hi, Williams' view, which Dresher modifies, is laid out in the first paragraph. We are told that Williams thought abolition was driven by economic, not humanitarian motives, those motives being that bad soil, debt, and the inefficient nature of slavery meant that slavery was an impediment to British economic progress. This is exactly what D tells us.
