How do you know when to use the Initial Rule from the Question or when to use the Larger chain sequence to answer a question

I do understand how to create the rules and how to create the larger chain sequence. My confusion lies in the fact that the tutor often switches between the Initial Rule from the game and larger chain of sequence to answer her questions. Meanwhile you'd get different answers when you use both to answer same question. Is there a way to determine when to stick to the initial rule from the question and also when to use the larger chain sequence?

Hi, is there a specific instance where you would get a different answer from using a while chain vs part of a chain? That can't happen, and if you're getting that I would suggest going back over those questions.

More generally, you use what is applicable. If we have a long chain of
A -> B -> c-> d -> E

We can start at any point of the chain we need. For example, if we know that A is present, then we know that the rest are present.

Similarly, if we know that D is present, we only know that E is present.
