Continuing my question

(sorry it wouldn't let me reply - responding to the last comment) Okay, so it looks like I did my original diagram correct. Sorry for being thick, but you ARE taking the contrapositive, right? The "students" is moving from the Necessary to the Sufficient in answer choice E and changing from negative to positive. The only difference is that you are keeping the "&" rather than changing it to "or". So again, please clarify, doesn't "&" change to "or" in the contrapositive? It makes sense to say they both have to happen if I think of it outside of diagramming rules - does "unless" create a new rule that "&" stays?

Abigail helped me work though this and I get it - I was reversing sufficient and necessary and not noticing that the second "s" stands for "solved. Thanks!

Glad that she was able to help! I think there might be a better way to explain this than my initial explanation, which might be helpful for future. Rather than worrying about the and/or, we should focus on whether the two problems are a package deal or not. The wording makes it clear they are, to get more students we must fox both problems. So, we need treat them as a unit.
