Asking for advice for Minor Point questions in Science passages

Hi there, I'm very bad at Minor Point questions in Science passages. I got both questions 58 and 60 wrong. I study a Social Science major in college, and I barely read any sciency texts like this. I guess that's why I can't wrap my head around these technical details every time I get a Minor Point question in Science passages. Since the Minor Point questions in the Science category are very hard for me (even if I slow down), is there any advice you can give me to improve on this specific question type? Thank you so much!

This certainly starts with reading the passages. I assure you, you're capable of reading this! I personally hate the hard sciences, but I'd much rather be presented with this than with Kant or Hegel.

The author is telling you a story. That story might be about law, the arts, economics, physics, history, or some other discipline. Critically, the author is writing for a non specialist audience.

There is no essential difference between description of levels of iridium in the soil, a kind of brushstroke, an economic theory, an archeological site, or (ew) Hegelian dialectic.

Your job isn't to become an expert at the how (e.g. the way a test was conducted, how a new type of oil pump works), but at the what and the why. You need to understand what the authors talking about and why you should care, but it's far less important to understand the specific mechanics.
