A Necessary Condition Followed By Sufficient?

Hi, I am just beginning my LSAT studies, so please forgive me I have not watched all the lectures yet. I was wondering if you could provide a quick summary of how to explain to myself (or others) how to identify which part of the statement is Necessary vs. Sufficient? I have Googled it but it is still not fully clicking for me. Thank you, Laura

My favorite approach is to think in terms of what is guaranteed. A conditional relationship is just a guarantee: saying that the president must be over 35 guarantees that if one is POTUS, one is over 35, and that if one is younger, then one cannot be POTUS.

In this case, the thing that does the guaranteeing is the sufficient condition. It is the thing that, if true, guarantees another thing is true. So, if I'm under 35, it's guaranteed that I'm not president. And, if I'm president, it's guaranteed that I'm over 35. A necessary condition is something that is guarenteed by something else. So, if I'm president, it is necessary that I am over 35.
