This question/game confuses me because it does not state that every group must have a child. It only says that each group must have an adult, so I set up the game accordingly. How do I gather that each group must also have a child?

Given that there are only four adults, if we put three in one canoe, then there would only be one adult left between the remaining two canoes, violating the rule that each canoe has an adult.
