Understanding the language in this questions

I was having a hard time understanding the stimulus here. I had general understanding of the stimulus except for the word "interpretation". I guessed choosing D w/o having fully understood why it is incorrect. After reading comments/analysis, I only just came to the understanding that the word "interpretation" here actually means the actual on stage performance of the orchestra. Further, while grappling between choosing an answer, I neglected the "currently pursuing" part. I thought this was just peripheral information w/o a full relevance to the stimulus. But during my analysis process, I discovered that it has everything to do with this argument since it is the PERFORMANCE CURRENTLY BEING PURSUED/PERFORMED after which the orchestra can give the conductor his/her due authority because he/she won it. Is this analysis correct?

I think that makes sense, but I would have two comments. First, it's good to use context to think about terms that are not used in their most common context. To say someone is pursuing an interpretation of something might not be clear in isolation. It might mean someone is taking their own spin on an existing work, or writing an article on how to best understand it. But for a conductor working with an orchestra to interpret, that seems clearer as meaning that the conductor is putting her own spin on an existing work of music.

Second, it's critical once you have a grasp on the terms to read and understand the sentence of clause in its entirety. I want you to try to avoid over focusing on one word, and make sure to think about that word in the context of the sentence.
