Question 8: The difference between A) and C)

Hi LSAT MAX! I was extremely confused about this but I think I kind of figured it out. The reason why A) is valid is because it mentioned "they were all black poodles" and C) would been valid if it mentioned "The only gorillas in the zoo were small primitives." Would love to hear some feedback because I'm still a bit puzzled about the question stem. Thank you in advance!

I think you're absolutely on the right track. The problem with C is that the conclusion combines the idea of primates and small gorillas to make small primates. Of course, the issue is that a small gorilla is still a large primate. A however does not make this mistake.

Note that the original passage does the exact same thing as C. A tall tulip can still be a short plant
