Finding the conclusion

Hi LSAT MAX, I chose option D because I thought "Their claim, therefore, should be dismissed without further consideration." was the conclusion of the question stimulus. I always find myself mislocating the actual conclusion in LR... Is there any method that can help me spot the conclusion correctly?

I think you're right that the last sentence is the main conclusion. I think the argument has an intermediate conclusion, that the bird thing is pretext and they just want to stop progress, which in turn supports the claim that we should dismiss their contention.

The question then only asks about support for the intermediate conclusion. So, we can basically treat the argument as if the last sentence was not there for the purpose of what the question is asking us to do as we get into the answer choices.
