How is Answer choice E an example of the logical force of the critics' response?

It seems answer choice E is an explanation of why the critic is wrong, it does not describe the critic's logical force, and therefore should not be the correct answer.

The academy makes a fairly soft conclusion, that it is possible. The critic completely misses the ball, and says that the academy is wrong because it may not work in other cases. However this is irrelevant. The academy merely tried to prove that it was possible in some cases, it's not actually a problem that it may not be true in all cases

E is a perfect match for this, the question at hand in the academy's argument is only whether something is possible. The critic wrongly attacks the argument on the grounds that it may not be generalizable.
