Generally for must be trues, the wrong answers are wrong because that's just not something we can prove. This is especially true in reading comp, where we will often not be able to point out something that disproves an answer choice, but rather, the wrong answer is wrong because that just wasn't in the passage.

For A, I just don't see any support in the passage for the idea that the critics think this. Do you see any?
For B, we have a hint of the authors view around line 30-35, but this does not tell us anything about the critics view of his sources.
For c, I don't think the critics are ever shown as thinking he was ignorant of the classics, but rather that he was artistically incompetent.
For D, this is directly contradicted by lines 39-45, where the critics do choose a basis.
E is correct because the second paragraph tells us that Webster is a victim of critical presupposition, which includes that he was working in the English tradition, rather than the Italian.
