Sally explains that she cannot study at a university that has an alcohol problem. So, she concludes that unless something is done about the alcohol problem at this university, she will have to transfer to a university that has no fraternities.

So, what is the unstated assumption here? Sally is assuming that the fraternities are the reason for the alcohol problem; hence, she will transfer to a school without fraternities if the problem isn't fixed.

In response, Yolanda states that she doesn't agree that fraternities are responsible for the alcohol problem at this university. She goes on to explain that alcohol issues are prevalent at universities that don't have fraternities, and instead of fraternities we should look to awareness of alcohol abuse as a resolution, since alcohol issues are a cultural problem.

So, what does Yolanda do? She disagrees with an unstated point of Sally's, i.e. that fraternities are responsible for alcohol problems, by explaining that alcoholism occurs at even schools without fraternities.

Thus, answer choice (D): "She tries to undermine what she supposes to be Sally's position by pointing out that alcohol problems occur even a universities where there are no fraternities," is the correct answer.

Hope that clears things up! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I was between B and D, and chose D correct, but B is technically true- wondering why NOT B?
