We are told that there are two alternative drugs available to prevent blood clots from developing after a heart attack. drug Y is no more effect than drug Z, which is more expensive. We are aslo told that drug Z is either no more or only slightly MORE EFFECTIVE than drug Y.

We are looking for the answer choice that would most help to justify a doctor's decision to use drug Z over drug Y.

Answer choice (E) does just this for us: "Where alternative treatments exist (Z is an alternative to Y) and there is a chance that one is more effective than the other (we are told that Z could be slightly more effective than Y), the possibly more effective one (Z) should be employed, regardless of cost."

Therefore, answer choice (E) is the correct answer.

Hope that clears things up! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
