Hi, answer choice D?

I'm having trouble understanding why D can't be the correct answer. Doesn't the passage basically state that negative traits can't be favored in natural selection? Thanks in advance!

@AnkitM (D) is possible so (D) cannot be the correct answer choice. We are looking for what "could be true EXCEPT:"

It is possible that a genetic mutation that carries along several negative traits is favored in natural selection.

All that would be required is that these negative traits "not be so negative to annul the benefits of having the new, favored trait."

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
