Daily Drills 6 - Section 6 - Question 1

Which one of the following conflicts with information in the passage?

kammerch March 15, 2016

"Conflicts with passage"

I don't understand how something that "conflicts with passage" wouldn't weaken the argument. Or how it's something that automatically "cannot be true". What if it's a counter argument to the one presented? It would weaken the authored claim and not necessarily "cannot be true " . Thanks for the help

@kammerch if something conflicts, it is contradictory, which by definition means it cannot be true.

Just make a mental note. When you see conflicts on the LSAT, think cannot be true.

Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.

I find it hard to connect these daily drills with real (or even fictional) LSAT questions. What would this question look like if it was actually on the LSAT?

@jwbenowitz this question stem was taken from an actual LSAT question so this is the exact type of terminology you will encounter on the LSAT.

The difference would be the answer choices. On the LSAT, you would be given five answers and you would be responsible for identifying the one that conflicts with the information set forth in the stimulus (i.e. the one that cannot be true). Whereas the four incorrect answer choices will be possible (i.e. could be true).

Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
