Not necessarily true/cannot be true

I don't understand why the answer is not necessarily true over cannot be true. The question is asking for which statement is not true. Not necessarily true means that it could be true, doesn't it? Cannot be true means it is not possible for it to be true so therefore it must be false, which is what the question was looking for was it not?

@Ccurtis3178 Remember, the logical opposite is the minimum required to disprove a statement.

For this reason, the logical opposite of "must be true" is "not necessarily true."

Similarly, the logical opposite of "hot" is not "cold," as you might think.

The logical opposite of "hot" is "not hot." Room temperature would be sufficient to disprove the statement that something is hot.

For a more in-depth discussion of these concepts, please watch the "True v. False" section of our "Intro to Logical Reasoning" video.

Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

How is "must be true" not opposite of "cannot be true"? "Must" implies it has to, "not necessarily" implies it does not have to.
