@lsat (nice username by the way!) sure, let's take a closer look. This is a Cannot Be True question, so we are looking for the answer choice that directly contradicts the information provided in the stimulus.
The stimulus here is a statement of facts as follows:
Most veterinarians, and especially those at university veterinary research centers, have a devoted interest in the biological sciences.
V-most-DIBS
But most veterinarians choose their profession primarily because they love animals.
V-most-CPLA
Among persons who are seriously interested in biological science but lack any special love for animals, one does not find any prominent veterinarians.
DIBS & not SLA ==> not PV
PV ==> not DIBS or SLA
Let's take a look at the answer choices now:
(A) is basically saying that at least one veterinarian has a greater love for biological sciences than for individual animals. This could be true so (A) is eliminated.
(B) also could be true. While we can't conclude with 100% certainty that "most veterinarians love animals and have an interest in biological science," this is not a Must Be True question and it is possible so (B) is also eliminated.
Note that we can definitely conclude that "some veterinarians love animals and have an interest in biological science" by combining the first two sentences (i.e. two most statements with the left-side in common). While we cannot properly conclude "most," it is possible.
(C) directly conflicts with the last sentence of the stimulus. We know from the contrapositive that if a prominent veterinarian, then either not devoted to biological sciences or no special love for animals. (C) however states that some prominent veterinarians intensely devoted to the biological sciences do not feel any pronounced affection for animals (i.e. PV with DIBS and not SLA), which again cannot be true. Therefore, (C) is the correct answer.
(D) is basically saying that some veterinarians at university research centers chose their profession primarily because they love animals. This could be true as it does not conflict with the information in the stimulus so (D) is eliminated.
(E) is not even addressed by the stimulus so (E) could be true and (E) is also eliminated.
Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Can you please explain why D can be true. If we've established that most v chose primarily because they love animals, then how can we reduce that to just a few v choosing for that reason.

@JTGoldstein93,Happy to help.
(D) says, "Few veterinarians at university research centers chose
their profession primarily because they love animals."
The thing with (D) is that it the stimulus does not mention anything
regarding whether or not veterinarians at university veterinary
research centers love animals, so this means that what (D) says could
potentially be true.
Does this make sense? Let us know if you have any other questions!
