Can you please explain why D can be true. If we've established that most v chose primarily because they love animals, then how can we reduce that to just a few v choosing for that reason.

The thing with (D) is that it the stimulus does not mention anything regarding whether or not veterinarians at university veterinary research centers love animals, so this means that what (D) says could potentially be true.
