Why is E wrong.

Having read previous explanations on why A is correct, I now can see the logic behind that answer. That having been said, can you shine some light on why, exactly, E is incorrect? Is it simply because the language therein ["background supplementary"] is too weak? Much thanks, in advance...

@RegDunlop exactly, the problem with (E) is that this claim is not "supplementary background information," but rather it is a premise on which the conclusion is based.
