Why not A?

Must be true does not seem to conflict. But could be true seems to leave open the possibility of conflict

@JH87 if something conflicts it cannot be true.

But "EXCEPT" means we are looking for the logical opposite of cannot be true, which is could be true.

So the correct answer could be true, while the four incorrect answer choices cannot be true.
