@scott13 the best way is to think about the point the author is trying to convey.
Why was this argument written? Or stated another way, what is the purpose of the author's argument?
Here, the argument starts with a question that the author then proceeds to answer, i.e. a journalist's story should not begin with the set phrase "in a surprise development."
Another helpful trick is to remember that Main Point questions are a type of Must Be True question so there are two requirements here:
(1) Must Be True
AND
(2) Main Point
As such, if an answer choice is not necessarily true, it can automatically be eliminated.
