@JayDee8732 (B) is completely irrelevant. It has no impact on Kyra's recommendation to "cut back on fiber intake."

Lourdes points out that "experts recommend that adults consume 20 to 35 grams of fiber a day."

Kyra's warns that "a daily intake of fiber that is significantly above that recommended level interferes with mineral absorption" and for this reason, "the public should be told to cut back on fiber intake."

(A) undermines this recommendation by pointing out that the average consumption of dietary fiber is presently approximately 10 grams a day, which is much less than significantly above 20 to 35 grams.

Hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I cant tell why I am confused by this answer, as to I agree with what you are saying here.. but I still can't understand how I perceive a recommended 10 grams to almost STRENGTHENS kyras argument.
Lourde says experts recommend 20-35 percent
Kayra says that a daily intake of fiber significant ABOVE interferes.
if the recommended is 10, then the numbers Lourde is stating are significantly ABOVE the recommended. I cant pinpoint the flaw in my perception that those numbers reinforce the argument that Kayra is trying to make here.
What am i missing?

Lourde is saying that the recommended amount is 20-35 grams (not percent). Kyra is not contesting the 20-35 gram recommendation but rather points out that going over this 20-35 gram recommendation can be detrimental. Kyra's conclusion is that experts should recommend adults to cut back on fiber intake.

(A) says that most adults consume only 10 grams of fiber. This means that they are consuming less than half of the recommended amount of dietary fiber. Kyra's conclusion that people should consume less fiber is based on the assumption that most people are over-consuming fiber, but if people are actually under-consuming (as answer choice (A) posits), then Kyra's conclusion is flawed.

Does that help?
