Time Trap Answer Choices

I got this one right but only after 2-3 mins of careful deliberation. B is a very good answer choice. Just because there are multiple citations in a paper does not mean that the research involved international collaboration. Maybe all of the sources were derived strictly from researchers in the United States. Any tips on how I can recognize these time trap answer choices under timed conditions and avoid being sucked in? Thank you!

@Brendan what makes you feel that (B) strengthens this argument?

Notice the stimulus refers us to the number of citations on average. This implies that some will have less, some will have more.

So (B) is actually completely irrelevant here.

Remember, that Strengthen with Necessary Premise questions have two requirements:

(1) Strengthens the argument

(2) Necessary to the argument

So if an answer choice does not strengthens, you shouldn't waste any time with it.

The key to avoid these time traps is to clearly understand the argument, so you can quickly eliminate these irrelevant answer choices.

Hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Ok. I see now why it does not strengthen. Thank you!

Wouldn't it also be true that the conclusion of the argument would make B irrelevant since it talks about the research teams are of greater importance and not just determining whether or not it was the product of international collaboration?
