@taelorjo of course! This is a Strengthen with Sufficient Premise question, so we are looking for the answer choice that 100% guarantees the conclusion.

What is the conclusion?

"Therefore, assuming the costs of using the two types of machines are equal, an accountant who uses a computer generally can earn more per hour than an accountant who uses an adding machine."

The supported provided for this conclusion?

"Some accountants calculate with simple adding machines, and some use complex computers. One can perform more calculations in less time with a computer than with an adding machine."

Notice the jump here from performing more calculations in less time, i.e. accountants using computers, to earning more per hour.

(C) closes this gap by stating, "the more calculations an accountant performs, the money he or she will earn."

This would guarantee the conclusion that "an accountant who uses a computer generally can earn more per hour than an accountant who uses an adding machine."

So (C) would be the correct answer.

Hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello. I did not understand what was meant by the "COST of using the two types of machines are equal." What are the "costs"? Is the cost the number of calculations each machine can do in a certain amount of time? If I took out the line about "assuming the cost..." Answer choice C is an obvious and easy to see link. Sometimes I have difficulty in understanding the connotations of certain words in the lsat passages.

Hey @nizhoni, I think here, "costs" refers to our everyday usage of the word "cost"--how much money does it take to afford one of these machines? If both are $200, and one's faster than the other, then since costs are equal and profits are greater with computers, total net profits will be greater. Hope this helps!

OK Mehran I am going to say something here, I am an accountant with over ten years of experience with CPA firms. I immediately answered B because we are billable billable billable, the more hours we spend on a job the more we make. They do not care how many calculations we made!

Ha, good point! This is a point that I would want to consider however, the question isn't asking us which thing is true, it's asking us what would make the argument correct. Make sure to check that the answer you pick answers the question at hand!
