The stimulus explains that the best way to write a detective story is to work backward from the crime. The writer needs to decide what the crime is and who the perpetrator is, and then come up with the circumstances and clues based on those decisions.

Answer choice (E) states that the best way to make a great tennis shot is to visualize where you want the shot to go, and then determine the position you need to be in. As in the stimulus, answer choice (E) suggests that the best way to do something is to work backwards starting from the end point/result and then figuring out how to get there.

Answer choice (B), on the other hand, does not suggest starting at the end because the "end point" of planting a vegetable garden is having vegetables grow, not preparing the soil. It should be rearranged to state: in planting a vegetable garden, you should decide what kinds of vegetables to plant and then you should prepare the soil.

Hope that was helpful! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
