Wha

In your video explanation, you said "precondition" is same as "necessary condition." Could you please explain more about this? So would it be alright if we consider it as equal meaning of "necessary condition" without hesitate when encounter "precondition for" on the LSAT? Thanks,

It's important that you understand what a necessary condition is first. A condition (Y) is said to be necessary for another condition (X), if (and only if) the falsity/non-existence/non-occurrence of Y guarantees or brings about the falsity/non-existence/non-occurrence of X.

For instance "taking the LSAT" is the necessary condition for "going to an accredited law school." The non-occurrence of taking the LSAT guarantees the non-occurrence of going to an accredited law school.

Now, what is a precondition? It is a condition that must be filled before other things can happen or be done. So "necessary condition" and "precondition" are interchangeable.

Hope that was helpful! Let us know if you have any other questions.

I would be grateful if the concept of a precondition could please be explained again? Apologies if I am not following, how did this come up specifically in this question? If a precondition is the necessary, as per the example, because if you take the contra positive and you did not take the LSAT you would not be going to law school?
