Answer choice D and E

Could answer choices D and E be automatically eliminated because the premise does NOT mention anything about slowing? Only "stopping"?

Thanks for your message. The video explanation for this question is live inside of LSATMax.

As for your specific question, the politician states that, "so all that is needed to save the koala is to stop deforestation."

This would be diagrammed as follows:

not D ==> not KAE
KAE ==> D

According to the politician's statement, we do not know what happens when deforestation is slowed, i.e. not stopped or D.

We only know what happens when deforestation is stopped, i.e. not D ==> not KAE (the koala will not approach extinction).

As such, we can eliminate (D) and (E) because they could be true, i.e. according to the politician's statement, we do not know what happens when deforestation is not stopped.

Hope that was helpful! Please let us know if you have any more questions.
