Confusing

This question is confusing because it says if n and o are at different clinics.... Can there not be two different scenarios ??? S:NPJ R: OLK OR S:OLK R:NPJ The question stem does not specify which clinic it just says different clinic so how would I know which clinic??

Thanks for your message. As for your question, your second scenario conflicts with Rule #4, i.e. "If Nance is at Randsborough, then so is Onawa."

This rule is diagrammed as follows:

Nr ==> Or
not Or ==> not Nr

However, we can rewrite the contrapositive because we know that if someone is not at Randsborough, they must be at Souderton.

As such, the contrapositive can be re-written as follows:

Os ==> Ns

So again, Rule #4 is diagrammed as follows:

Nr ==> Or
Os ==> Ns

As such, the only possibility that exists where N and O are at different clinics is O at R and N at S (i.e. look at the necessary conditions).

Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
