@Jaimee-Salgado this hypothetical shows that neither F nor T must be selected, which would eliminate (A) as the correct answer:

G O P W N/V | F T V/N

For (D), however, if neither O nor P is selected, that means N must be selected (rule 1), which means V cannot be selected (rule 5).

But we also know that if P is not selected, then W is not selected (rule 3), which would result in four variables not selected and only four variables available to be selected which violates the rules of this game (5 of 8 selected):

F G N T __ | O P V W
