Which one of the following is a pair of products that could be advertised during the same week as each other?

Correct Answer

I got this right, but I was wondering why H and J couldn't be together in the second week? There's nothing that directly prevents this if H is also in the preceding week?

Hi @Parker-Zopp, thanks for your post. Please review the video setup for this game (found in Hybrid Games, Game 2 of 5), which will help you understand how the various rules governing this game (the numerical distribution, 2-1-1-1-1-1-1, and the various sufficient and necessary rules given at the outset) are such that you cannot ever have H and J advertised together.

Look especially carefully at the second to last sentence of the opening paragraph ("exactly one of the products will be a member of two of these four pairs" - in other words, exactly one of the seven variables will show up twice), and also the first indented rule ("J is not advertised during a given week unless H is advertised during the immediately preceding week"). Together, these rules mean that you cannot have H and J in the same week.

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
