Thanks for the question! This question wants us to find which new statement the author would be most likely to agree with based on information in the passage. We’re told that it has to do with the weakening of the earth’s ozone layer, so we go back to the part of the passage where we found that information. This happens starting at line 10. The author discusses critics in the lines before who believe that defining prosperity just in terms of monetary value is mistaken, since it doesn’t account for other values like environmental health. The author then cites the ozone layer as an example of this. The weakening of the ozone layer may contribute to monetary value, since more hats/sunglasses/sunscreens are being sold. But this weakening shouldn’t be regarded as contributing to prosperity, since it threatens people’s health. We see later throughout the passage that the viewpoint of these critics is the one that the author agrees with (such as when she points out shortcomings in the economist’s position in the last paragraph).
