Could you please explain why C is the correct answer?

Could you please explain how C is the correct answer? I know the answer choice is based on similar sufficient and necessary conditions.

Hi @Deidra-McCall, happy to help.

The team captain’s argument is that winning requires a willingness to cooperate which requires motivation. So you will not win if you are not motivated. In other words, motivation is a necessary condition for willingness to cooperate, which is a necessary condition for winning. So motivation is a necessary condition for winning.

Answer choice C mirrors this pattern of reasoning. Retaining the political party’s status requires raising more money, which requires increased campaigning. So the party will not retain its status if you do not increase campaigning (note that the answer words it differently “unless it increases” but it is logically the same). In other words, increasing campaigning is a necessary condition of raising more money, which is a necessary condition for retaining the party’s status. So increasing campaigning is a necessary condition for retaining the party’s status.

I hope this helps! Please reach out with other questions!

I still don't understand how C is correct when the stimulus' conclusion was invoke the contrapositive of the trans property and choice C was simply using the positive trans property
