The first sentence tells us that it supports the hypothesis that a late bombardment extended throughout the inner solar system. It is in this sense that it favors the view that the LHB was widespread, as opposed to a theory like the third group, that believes the LHB involved only the disintegration of a body within the Earth-Moon system.
