The stimulus tells us that the new roost is only five miles away but the hunting extends as far as 60 to 80 miles from the roost, hence it is reasonable to infer that if 60-80 mile area is depleted of food resources, moving five miles would not make a difference. Thus, we can conclude that crows move to a new roost site for other reasons.

Does this make sense?
