It is most likely that the authors of the two passages would both agree with which one of the following statements?

E and C

Although the author of passage A describes the writing style of Cather, the author does not say that they style was the impressionist technique. That is why I did not choose E. Why is C incorrect?

@tomgbean Happy to help!

(E) is correct because both passages discuss impressionistic techniques employed by Cather and identify them as such. Lines 18-20 in Passage A state "here we have an impressionistic aesthetic that anticipates Cather's," and lines 55-56 in Passage B state "...some of the central features of Cather's impressionistic technique...." Since there is thematic and explicit support in both passages, it is safe to say that the authors would agree that Cather used impressionistic narrative techniques to portray her characters' psychology.

(C) is incorrect because Passage A does not discuss narratology nor how to approach Cather's work. Be careful not to make assumptions on what the author believes when it is not explicitly stated.

Does this make sense? Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Yes that makes sense! I missed Line 18-20 when I was answering this question and then again on review. Thanks!
