(C) is correct because Passage A talks about disproving a theory on lines 12-14, and Passage B illustrates it by showing how the predictions regarding the orbit of Mercury eventually resulted in rejecting/ disproving of Newton's theory of gravity and increased confidence in Einstein's theory (lines 60-64).
