I have a quesiton about a question I completed.

I chose the correct answer but I was nearly close to choosing "B" as my answer. Could you kindly explain why "B" is the incorrect answer choice.

I didn't choose "B" because I didn't feel that it weakened the argument entirely because it stated "different in several respects," which can happen within the same species.

@spk2018, Your reasoning is correct- closely related species (remember, we're not talking about the same species, we're talking about those on the islands and those in the Americas) can be "different in several respects." Since these two things are compatible, (B) does not weaken the argument.
