D

Why Doesn't D work? it seems like D and A are saying effectively the same thing.

Hi Tomgbean, thanks for the question.

I am definitely not the only one to say this about this question type, and I'm aware that you have most likely heard this advice from others, but I must say that unless you are feeling very confident in your games performance and timing is not an issue at all, it is recommended to guess for this question. It typically shows up a maximum of one time per section and the time saved really helps tackle other games and questions.

But regardless, for learning purposes, we should see how we can differentiate D from A.

Here we are replacing the rule that W must come before both recorded (K and L). As we have it in our rules and diagrams, we know that W must come first or second, so it would seem natural that a rule stating this much should be correct.

However, the issue is that it is overly inclusive of previously disallowed possibilities. If we put W in 2 according to the new rule, there is no restriction on K or L, such that they can be in slot 1. This was previously disallowed because they should come after W.

I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any other question.
