Hi Sprozes, thanks for the question! When we place N on Thursday, we are limiting the board even more than before with relation to S. Now, S cannot be placed out, nor in slots 3 and 5 (Wednesday in Friday). I will separate my in/out groups with an "II"
__ __ __ N __ II __
1 2 3 4 5
This leaves only two possibilities. Either S is Monday or S is Tuesday.
S __ __ N __ II __
__ S __ N __ II __
In the first scenario, we can put OH in 2 and 3. This would force L out because it is not in Wednesday (3) anymore. And P would be Friday.
Conversely, we can throw O in the out group and allow L to be 3rd. Forcing H in 2 and P in 5.
These scenarios look like this.
S O H N P II L and
S H L N P II O
Using the S is on Tuesday scenario, we see that OH cannot be placed. Therefore O is out. L is 3. H cannot be 5, so it must be 1. And P is 5 (again).
This looks like.
H S L N P II O
In all scenarios, P is Friday when N is Thursdsay. This is why answer choice D is correct.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
