Stuck between C and D

I understand why D is the correct answer choice but why is C incorrect?

@armandovidana097, happy to help.

(C) states: "One's chess skills will improve only if one learns to use pattern-recognition techniques."

The key here is the phrase "only if." Although the passage does seem to imply that one's chess skills will improve with pattern-recognition techniques, it does not suggest that this is the ONLY way to improve one's chess skills. This is what (C) states, which is why it is incorrect.

Does that make sense? Please let us know if you have any other questions!
