Even though this is a pure sequencing game, I was tempted to attempt to place the L_J block. I agree that wastes precious time, but what is the clue NOT to get caught in that time trap,if there is one other than just experience? Thank you.

I would say to avoid playing something unless there are three or fewer places it can go, and here there are are more than three possibilities
