Hi @kenken,

This question asks you to pick the answer choice that the author would be most likely to agree with.

Answer (A) fits this. The passage tells us that native languages are disappearing and then describes ways they can be maintained. This tells us that the author thinks there is value in maintaining the languages and that doing so is desirable. The passage also tells us that the communities which have succeeded in preserving native languages have done so through an abundance of radio programming (line 47) and that varied programs + lessons in newspapers have been successful (lines 56-63). These are common every day uses of the language, demonstrating that the author would agree that preservation can be achieved by integrating language into daily life.

Answer (B) is incorrect because the passage does not discuss the role of "other members and institutions of society as a whole." Rather, it tells us steps that native communities can take on their own to preserve their language.

Answer (C) is incorrect because it is not supported by the passage. There is no mention in the passage about elders disagreeing over how to transmit cultural values to future generations. In fact, the passage is about language not cultural values.

Answer (D) is incorrect because it is too specific. While the passage tells us that effective radio programming involves lots of different content (lines 53-55), it never mentions reporting on developments in technology and the economy specifically. In fact, the message of the passage seems to be to have a broad base of content, not just niche content.

Answer (E) is incorrect because it is irrelevant. While the passage mentions an uptick in universities offering native languages, the main argument of the passage is that radio and every day use can be effective in preserving native languages. It never discusses a need to spend more resources on universities.
