Why is E correct

Why is E correct here? I had eliminated it because the author broadens the topic to issues of women in general and so I thought he did not have a focus on the individual. Thank you!

I got this one wrong too, but I think it's because in line 5 it says her work "challenges the ethnographer's penchant for the general and the anonymous," and the opposite of the general and anonymous is the individual.
