A and B are good answer choices to focus on and distinguish.

A is incorrect because the critic doesn't disprove any evidence against the theories. It is said that they are inelegant and don't dispel mysteries. But the critic doesn't disprove or even try to disprove this. However (as in answer choice B), the critic does bring up the point we are looking at as a means to overcome this criticism.
