Hi @Sheikhd,Thanks for the question! So it’s definitely true that the passage says that Sam was “partly inspired” by laundry around lines 43-44. But take a careful look at what (E) is saying. Is it saying that “artists can be partially inspired by everyday things”? No, it’s saying something much stronger than that. (E) is saying that everyday images like laundry hanging are most likely to give artists great inspiration. Does the author ever talk about everyday objects being most likely to give artists great inspiration, or even in general what’s most likely to give artists great inspiration? No, not at all. And so (E) isn’t discussed in the passage and is wrong.
As for (D), which tells us that the Color Field style involved experimentation more than Gilliam believed the art of his African American contemporaries did, take a look at lines 12-21. We’re told there that Gilliam thought that his African American contemporaries were too conservative, and that there wasn’t much room for exploring new artistic territory through experimentation and innovation. And then later, in lines 27-35, we’re told that Gilliam was impatient with this approach and so did paintings that were more expressive and evocative, and we’re told in line 36 that his paintings were highly experimental. So (D) is mentioned by the passage, and can be ruled out.
Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
