Which one of the following most accurately expresses the main point of the passage?

B vs E
I originally thought B was the answer but discarded it because it said "uniquely" and further along in the passage the author mentioned similar things being discovered. Could you explain why B is better than E? Thanks!

Answer choice (B) is correct because it is not calling CJD unique; rather, it says that the class of protein pathogens (i.e. prions as a whole) is unique. This encompasses the subsequent discoveries mentioned later in the passage.
Answer choice (E), while true, is incorrect because it is not broad enough to be the main point of the passage. Answer choice (B) covers the connection to CJD and the implications of this finding (i.e. discovering a new "deadly" class of pathogens which don't act in the same way as other pathogens), whereas answer choice (E) is simply focused on the issue of pathogen reproduction and fails to appreciate the connections to research into degenerative diseases.
Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
