C seems too strong

I didn't choose C because I felt the word "incorrect" was too strong here. I chose D because I felt it was the best next answer, but now that I read it back again, I realize that the strict constructionists are not a traditional theory, and that is likely why D is wrong. Is this the case? Thank you!

Hi @alicat6,

Happy to help!

Answer choice (C) is correct because the passage argues that the strict constructionist Darwinians are incorrect as "nature provides numerous examples of attributes that are not adaptations for reproductive success and of species whose success or failure had little to do with their adaptations" (lines 19 to 22).

You are right! Answer choice (D) is incorrect because lines 5 to 8 tell us that the strict constructionist Darwinians have recently risen to prominence by reducing Darwin's traditional theory of evolution to the doctrine of natural selection.

Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
