I have the same question!AndreaK on June 19, 2021
Hi there,Our thesis really hits home with the idea presented between lines 2 and 10, furthered by the points presented in the first sentence of each of the subsequent (second and third) paragraphs.
Answer choice E does a really good job or paraphrasing these ideas.
Answer choice B mischaracterizes our main point. Our main point is not to discuss how economic factors are currently preventing on-demand digital-to-print books from taking over the industry, but rather to show that as technology in this fields develops, how the economy of that industry will change because of that.
Answer choice D falls short of our main point. That’s only what’s addressed at the start of the passage, and is missing mention of how this shift will affect the economy of the publishing industry.
Hope this helps!

Hi Andrea - So I still can't wrap my head around how Answer Choice B is incorrect. I read your analysis and I can see how you are right. However, I drew information from what Lines 24-29 said in my decision to choose Answer Choice B. It states: "Given the economic efficiency and convenience for customers of this new digital model of publishing, it's likely to eventually supplant or at least rival traditional publishing. Although it will take some time before a catalog of books becomes large enough to justify investment in book printing machines."That statement even uses the word "rival". That's what made me choose "B". Secondly, when the author says, "although it will take some time to justify investment..." seems like that this is the economic factor holding the public back. Am I incorrect to think this?
The only other reason, I was one toe in and one toe out of the water with this question was the beginning of Line 24, "Given the economic efficiency and convenience for customers of this new digital model.'' Makes me think it isn't such a social factor holding it back from being implemented. Can you discuss? I hope this makes sense.

My big issue with B is that there are no social factors holding back digital printing that the author identifies. All the factors you listed, as well as those around line 44, are economic factors. The social factor you listed at line 24 is actually a social factor in favor of adoption, not one holding it back.
