Why not A, and why B?

I easily eliminated answers C through E, however, when between A and B I couldn’t quite decide… I realize that making a comment on the sincerity of film afficionados might be a stretch, but could you just further explain why B is correct? Thank you!

Hi I am not an instructor but I was able to get to the right answer D by rereading the last paragraph.

This is an easier to understand version of the last paragraph.

"Film archives and retrospective (an exhibition) festival often act as if the production of the films was the only key to film presentation. As a result, film archives spend a huge amount of time and effort to restore films to the state that they were originally produced. However, the efforts involved in these restorations are often misdirected. When it comes to exhibiting films in real life, authenticity of the film often doesn’t matter since films today are presented in inauthentic settings that have different context and setting from when they were originally shown. The context of the film presented today allow certain films to shine and also allow audiences to balance and react against other kinds of films. Thus it ill behooves (suits) us alleged early film lovers to forsake (abandon) the tradition of film presentations inherited from the vaudeville (a farce with music which features buffoonery) tradition or early years of the twentieth century."

In summary, the last paragraph argues that just because a film has been restored to authenticity in production doesn’t mean it will guarantee the audience an authentic viewing experience unless other aspects of film exhibitions are cared for. This last sentence carries an implication regarding the proper way to show early nonfiction films, and the proper way to show early nonfiction films is to urge the readers (alleged early film lovers) to manage not only restoring the film to its authentic production state but other aspects of how the movie is shown, such as how it is shown in combination with other films, to simulate the experience of film presentation in the early 20th century. Thus, D is the correct answer.

A is incorrect because the author never questioned the sincerity of movie lovers. The author takes for granted that all movie lovers love early non-fiction movies sincerely. Instead, the author argues that how authentic the movie appears to contemporary movie lovers depends not only on how close it has been restored to authenticity but also how it is exhibited in the context.

Thank you. This passage was really difficult for me but once I understood this passage, I found it fascinating. I hope I explained this correctly and please feel free to correct me.

Sorry my bad. I meant to type B as the correct answer because I wrote "This last sentence carries an implication regarding the proper way to show early nonfiction films, and the proper way to show early nonfiction films is to urge the readers (alleged early film lovers) to manage not only restoring the film to its authentic production state but other aspects of how the movie is shown, such as how it is shown in combination with other films, to simulate the experience of film presentation in the early 20th century. Thus, B "Not D" is the correct answer.
Answer choice B states "B: carry an implication regarding the proper way of exhibiting early nonfiction films." This is a paraphrase of what I wrote in previous thread.
My explanation is for the correct answer B but I wrote mistakenly that the correct answer is D.
Please also keep in mind that I got this question wrong the first time I read this passage.
Thank you for pointing my. mistake out!

The problem with A here is that the author does not call early film aficionados' sincerity into question. In the passage, the author never makes the claim that they're lying about being into early nonfiction films, so we can get rid of this choice.

B works so well because the "implication" it mentions refers to the author's thought that we will not get the true "life and context" of the films if they're not shown in the original manner of the early film programs. Thus, B is the correct answer choice. Jing Jing Xiao's comment touches on this idea nicely.
